This particular 7-Eleven store had a non-compliant ramp with incorrect slopes and a poor hand railing. Additionally, the ADA parking place was in the wrong location with noncompliant slopes.
ACR had to correct the slopes at the door landing and the concrete walk. This store had a flush transition that required detectable warning domes along the entire front of the store. The city path of travel and directional signage was incorrect and missing. Even though the owner went through the permit process with the city of Torrance in the past they had hired an ADA designer who provided an incorrect drawing in which the city approved anyway. This is a perfect example of why plans should be reviewed by a CASp or second CASp inspector to review the plans prior to submittal. The city most often approves the plans anyway thus multiple lawsuits.
